How are they formed? Forms when basalts are settled in sheets and transform into metamorphic rock by the hydrothermal process of high pressure and high heat. Zoisite gets its green color from titanium, manganese, olivine and vanadium that is present during formation. If rubies are nearby during formation, they may fuse together, creating Ruby Zoisite.
