How it's formed: Forms when oxygen and aluminum atoms are compressed into corundum then is exposed to high heat and pressure deep underground. chromium gives ruby their red color. Kyanite forms when sedimentary rock goes through high pressure changes (metamorphosis mm) that effects the clay minerals inside the rocks. Kyanite is blue because of iron and titanium present during formation.
