Description: Red, rust and brown colored shimmery layered quartz stone
Places Found: Brazil, India, Australia, South Africa, Namibia, USA
How it's formed: Forms by the crack-seal mechanism in which quartz contains cracks of Crocidolite (a blue form of asbestos) and water containing minerals to make both seep into the cracks. Quartz and Crocidolite begin to form on the cracks’ surface which in turn grows the rock and causes more cracks for new layers to form. This causes a banding and iridescent effect. Tigereye gets its color from oxidized iron in the Crocidolite and limonite.
Metaphysical Properties: Aids in grounding, focus and motivation
