How it's formed: Forms when hot water containing fluorite and some other trace minerals are forced up through cracks in the earth where it interacts with calcium- rich limestone. Crystals form along cracks and crevasses in the rocks. Fluorite gets its color from naturally irradiated impurities introduced during formation.
