Where are you gem mining?
Gem mining is an activity that is enjoyed all over the world from backyard digs to giant mines that require earth movers to get stones out. There are also some gemstones that are found in some places in the world and not in others. This depends on the minerals that are present in the soil/water, what kind of sediment there is and how hot/cold the area is while the stones are forming.
in Ohio, we do not have the luxury of having gem mines in our state. Flint is the Ohio state gemstone which quite frankly is boring compared to other states and that is about all you will find while rockhounding other than Native American artifacts. Other states, like the Carolinas, have beautiful quartz, amethyst, garnet, limonite and the like.
I started Treasure Buckets because I live in a “boring” rock state and would not usually have the ability to find amazing gemstones. As a kid I wanted ALL of the gemstones and that has followed me into my adult/professional life. Treasure Buckets allows others to have ALL the rocks and gemstones, too without having to leave the house and travel to mine for gems.
